This week in Makeup Wars, our challenge is to pick our Favorite Cream or Pencil Eyeshadow. That’s definitely a challenge for me; although powders are usually my first choice, you can’t beat the versatility of a cream or pencil eyeshadow. Read on for my selection…
After considering a few of my favorite cream eyeshadows and deciding I couldn’t make a choice, I went with a pencil….NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Calabria. A true multi-tasker, Calabria can be applied to the eyelid as a base color, swept into the crease as a contour shade. My favorite way to use this pencil, though, is to smudge it into the lash line for an instant smoky eye. And for travel, nothing beats the convenience of eyeshadow pencils. You can tell I use this almost daily…I’m down to the nub!
And because I’m a Gemini and believe two is always better than one, I’m listing a few other eyeshadow pencils that I’ve been reaching for lately. The Jouer Creme Eyeshadow Crayons ($24) are new this spring and are well-pigmented, creaseless and offer all-day wear. The shades that have found their way into my rotation include renaissance (bronzed plum–obsessed!), baroque (taupe-gold) and abstract (I’d call it an ‘asphalt’ color).
Make sure to check out the Favorite Cream or Pencil Eyeshadows of the rest of the Makeup Wars gang!
