Sometimes it’s necessary to hit the reset button; whether in your daily life, or in your beauty/skin care routine. I always feel that the change of seasons is a good time to renew, refresh and recharge.
While it’s nice to have masks, body wraps and other renewing treatments at a spa, it’s nice to know that you can do these treatments yourself at home. These are a few of the products that I’ve been using to detoxify and beautify my skin.
If you have dry skin, you might want to try First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask. My friend Christine swears by this one, I couldn’t wait to try it. The Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask helps rehydrate and restore skin in just 10 minutes, leaving skin soft and glowing. This mask is perfect for dry and flaky skin, or for those with sensitive skins, as it blends protective oats with antioxidants to repair and revive skin. $22
I received a sample of Boots Botanics Ionic Clay Mask in my Influenster VoxBox and was anxious to try it. Clay Masks are one of the best ways to remove impurities and clarify skin. This mask is gentle, non-irritating, easy to apply and left my skin soft and smooth. It has Willowbark in it, which has anti-inflammatory, soothing and conditioning properties. This is a great and economical choice for normal-to-oily and/or combination skins.
A thorough exfoliation is a great way to slough off dry skin, so the healthy skin shines through. From She Terra Organics, the Argan & Olive 2-in-1 Body Scrub has worked it’s way into one of my absolute new favorite products! The “2-in-1” action is both exfoliating and moisturizing. I love the texture, too, which is a very fine “paste”. Anti-aging and nutrient rich virgin and organic argan and olive oils provide skin with essential fatty acids while dead skin is buffed away by organic Malawi “Fair Trade” sugar. The Clementine formula that I’m using smells divine. Love! $18
If scrubs aren’t your thing, another way to renew skin cells and maintain a smooth texture is to use a product like AmLactin® Moisturizing Body Lotion. This body lotion is formulated with with clinically proven 12% lactic acid that’s pH-balanced for the skin. Lactic acid has humectant properties, meaning it helps hold water it; in this case helping to lock in skin moisture. I find this to be an effective moisturizer to help gently exfoliate and intensely hydrate to relieve severely dry and/or flaky skin. It couldn’t be easier to use; just apply to skin twice a day!
