Although I’ve long been a fan of Origins™ skin care products, I’d never tried any of the Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins™ products. Recently I was sent a few and was pleasantly surprised. The Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins™ line was developed to help improve your body, mind and spirit and incorporates traditional, therapeutic plants and herbs in it’s formula.
The three products that I tried were part of the Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins™ Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief range, which features Dr. Weil’s signature blend of Reishi, Chaga and Cordyceps Mushrooms for skin calming. So these products would be best for those with sensitive skins or redness issues.
The Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins™ Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Eye Serum ($46) was my favorite product of the three that I tried. This lightweight serum is designed for skin calming, protecting from environmental aggressors which can trigger and irritate sensitive skins, reduce the appearance of under eye puffiness and dark circles. I applied morning and evening to the area around my eyes. This eye serum did a good job of hydrating and I noted some improvement in undereye puffiness.
When I first opened the Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins™ Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion ($31), I did a double-take. It’s clear, with the consistency of a toner, and not really a lotion (in the traditional sense) at all. Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion is applied after cleansing to soothe, comfort and hydrate skin. This product also contains the Mega-Mushroom blend found in the range. A toner or calming lotion isn’t a product that I’ve ever really felt the need to incorporate into my regimen, but this one is lightly scented and feels pleasant on the skin. It’s not drying or irritating to skin.
The Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins™ Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Face Cleanser ($30) is a cream cleanser that I’ve been enjoying as the seasons are changing. I’ve used it twice a day and have found it to be non-irritating. It’s performed well, in terms of removing makeup. While I haven’t seen the full ingredient deck for this cleanser, by it’s feel, I would say that it would be more suitable for those with a drier skin than oily or combination. My skin was left comfortably hydrated after cleansing.
