Hourglass Modernist - Model

One of the things that I live for is that moment you open a beauty product and literally gasp at the beauty. That is exactly what happened to me when I opened the Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette in Exposure (the plum palette). To say “it’s gorgeous”, a term I use often, does it injustice. The Modernist Eyeshadow Palette is simply stunning.

With so many palettes being released, it’s hard to decide which ones to spend your money on. I totally get that. I’m here to tell you that the Modernist Eyeshadow Palette deserves some serious consideration. The palette is composed of five eyeshadow shades blended into a three-dimensional, freeform design. There are varied finishes, too, from matte to shimmer. Want a custom color? No problem; just take your brush and swirl. And really, isn’t that what most of us do to get just the right color anyway?

There are a total of seven Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes available:

Hourglass Exposure Palette - open

Exposure, which is the palette that I tried, is a sculptural study in purples. The shades flow from one into another and each one is beautiful. The texture is creamy, with very good pigmentation. Particularly with the darker shades, you need a gentle touch of the brush. What I like is that creating a smoky eye look is laid out right in front of you. In this palette Black Violet, the darkest shade, makes a beautiful liner to smudge along the lash line. I found this palette to be long-lasting and crease-resistant, although I did use the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer as a base.

The Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes ($58) are available now at Sephora and hourglasscosmetics.com. Is this a palette you have on your radar? Let me know in the comments!
