Finally available in the U.S. and definitely creating a buzz, the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Modern Matte Lipsticks have arrived! These lipsticks are my first introduction to the Charlotte Tilbury line, so I was excited at the opportunity to try them. It was worth the wait!
I must confess that I’ve never been a fan of matte lipsticks. While I have friends that swear by mattes, I find that on my lips a matte lipstick is drying. And then there’s the issue of accentuating any imperfection. But this season, a matte lipstick is everything, so I was determined to find a matte lipstick that was actually wearable.
Enter the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks. They’re fantastic! Unlike most matte lipstick formulas I’ve tried (exceptions appear in my Top 10 Fall Lipstick picks), the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks are not drying at all; these lipsticks feel good on the lips! The formula is nourishing and contains lip conditioners for hydration, antioxidants and SPF. Even with coffee drinking, I had a full 5-6+ hours of color, which I’m comfortable calling “all-day wear”.
Of the twelve Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick shades available, I tried Bond Girl (left; a natural berry, inspired by Bond Girls Halle Berry, Barbara Bach and Olga Kurylenko), Love Liberty (middle; a wild rose flush shade inspired by Jerry Hall and Uma Thurman) and Red Carpet Red (right; a true ruby red – think Scarlett Johansson, Marilyn Monroe and Michelle Williams).
The pigmentation in this lipstick is really exceptional; there are 3D glowing pigments create the illusion of “full-beam,” lit-from-within lips that optically appear wider and fuller. Gorgeous! I also love the squared off tip, which mimics a makeup brush that allows for precise application. The packaging is luxe, too, with a ribbed rose-gold case that feels substantial in your hand.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to try Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetics, I would encourage you to start with a Matte Revolution Lipstick ($34). The excellent pigmentation, long-wear, gorgeous color palette and non-drying feel have made me a huge fan. You can find Matte Revolution Lipsticks in department stores, including Sephora, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman and CharlotteTilbury.com/us.
