Are you ready for the new year? It’s that time when we tell ourselves we’ll try harder and do better. When it comes to beauty resolutions, there are things that we can definitely do to get the year off on the right track. And I promise…they’re not painful!

Try these beauty resolutions for the new year!

Makeup brush cleansers

Clean up! Make this the year you resolve to clean your makeup brushes on a weekly or biweekly basis.  For the most convenience, I prefer a spray brush cleaner. These days a lot of brands make them, including Dior and Bobbi Brown. I’ve also used the MAC Brush Cleaner, which works really well, although it is a liquid.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Palette

Switch it up! A new year is the time to take more risks and step a little outside your beauty comfort zone. I’m planning to start out this year by wearing brighter shades on my lips. I love the Smashbox Be Legendary 25th Anniversary Lip Palette, which has a great selection of bright lipstick shades to pick from.

PUR Cosmetics Browder Brow Powder

Arch it up! It’s time to get the eyebrow situation under control. Brow products come in so many variations, but achieving a natural look is key. I’ve been using PUR Cosmetics Browder Perfecting Brow Powder; a cream to powder formula with a precision tip applicator. It’s easy to use and comes in three shades. Get a strong brow game this year!

Colbert MD Illumino Brightening Mask

Plump it up! If too much holiday partying has taken a toll on your skin, then the Colbert MD Illumino Brightening Mask will leave skin rehydrated, renewed and glowing. I love a sheet mask and this one has Niacinamide to brighten, Lactic Acid to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, Vitamin C to neutralize free radicals, Hyaluronic Acid to help skin retain moisture and more. It’s a nice way to unwind at the end of a long day.

Onomie eye treatments

Lighten it up! I have dark undereye circles and sometimes I think it takes a village to see results. Luckily, I’ve discovered A.C.E Illuminating Eye Treatment & Bright Concealing Elixir from Onomie. The A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment is a highlighter that treats dark circles with 10% Vitamin C (and no irritation), as well as Vitamins A and E. It’s brilliant that there are makeup pigments in it! I follow that with the Bright Concealing Elixir, which targets dark circles and puffiness. I find this to be very pigmented, and buildable. When used together, the Onomie products are a very effective treatment for my dark circles. Is it makeup? Skincare? Yes and Yes! Highly recommend!

Elizabeth Arden Skin Illuminating Retexturizing Pads

Brighten up! If your skin is dull, rough and needs a jump start, Elizabeth Arden Skin Illuminating Retexturizing Pads are a great option that I’ve recently starting incorporating into my anti-aging regimen. With Glycolic and Lactic acids, these power pads exfoliate and retexturize so that you see brighter, more radiant skin. I haven’t experienced any irritation, although there is a tingling sensation upon application. I use a few times a week, at night after cleansing my skin.

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll Mascara

Open it up! A good mascara opens up the eye area and is the finishing touch to any makeup look. I get the best overall results from the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll Mascara. If you’ve been using the same mascara out of habit, and haven’t been satisfied, now’s the time to try a new one.

Plaque HD Toothpaste

Brush up! Make this the year you take care of your teeth and help prevent gum disease! New Plaque HD toothpaste contains an all-natural teal disclosing agent to color and identify plaque build-up on teeth, allowing you to target any areas of plaque that may have been missed during usual brushing. Cool idea, isn’t it?

And let’s not forget to protect it! If you haven’t found a sunscreen to incorporate into your beauty regimen, I’ve got ten great suggestions in my “best sunscreens to wear under makeup” post. Do you have any beauty resolutions for this year? Let me know in the comments!
