Of all the beauty products most of us would consider “essential”, moisturizer is near the top. A good facial moisturizer adds suppleness to the face and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles. These are some of the newest moisturizers out now; if you’re ready for a seasonal moisturizer reset, try one!
My favorite facial moisturizers for the spring and summer seasons include:
Clinique has expanded their “Smart” range with new day and night moisturizers. I love the Smart skin care products (see previous reviews of the Smart Custom-Repair Serum and Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment), as they adjust to your own skin’s needs. The Smart SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer is an oil-free day formula which hydrates where needed and has SPF 15. The Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer helps brighten, hydrate, repair and strengthen skin’s moisture barrier. Both formulas are fragrance-free.
From e.l.f., the Daily Hydration Moisturizer is a lightweight formula that makes a nice pre-makeup prep. The lightly-scented formula is infused with antioxidants and nourishing Jojoba, Aloe, Vitamin E and cucumber. At under $10, this is a beauty bargain worth trying.
I like to have a lot of moisturizer options–especially in the spring and summer. I love the new L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Day Cream SPF 30. With a healthy dose of UVA/UVB protection, this is a versatile option for getting your daily sunscreen in, along with anti-aging benefits. Great for mature skins, this non-greasy moisturizer has a moderately strong fragrance.
Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation is a lightweight, oil-free multi-tasking moisturizer and a good choice for spring and summer. In addition to hydration, Vitamin C complex, licorice root and pea extract help to brighten skin. I love the silky feel of this creme, and didn’t experience any irritation with use. Can be used by all skin types.
If you’re a fan of Philosophy products, the Renewed Hope in a Jar Overnight Moisturizer is one you need to try. This moisturizer helps hydrate and replenish, using a natural plant extract called MYRAMAZE, plus a triple-blend of alpha hydroxy acids and an asian fruit extract. I like that it’s oil-free, making it perfect for acne-prone or combination skins. Skin feels fresh and hydrated in the morning.
I’m obsessed with Pixi Beauty’s Glowtion Day Dew! In addition to hydrating, this formula brightens and illuminates skin. If I’m going makeup-free, I’m wearing Glowtion Day Dew and even if I’m wearing makeup, I use this underneath to give my skin a glow. This is a game-changer (trust me)!
Those that are regular readers know that I love SkinCeuticals for it’s clinical approach to skincare. New in the Correct range is Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2, an anti-aging lipid replenishment treatment. The ratio of 2% pure ceramides, 4% natural cholesterol and 2% omega fatty acids is optimized for natural barrier restoration. Excellent as an anti-aging treatment, the lightweight, nourishing formula helps to improve skin smoothness and texture, radiance and is ideal for dehydrated skin.
Another science-based skin care line I like is SkinMedica. Their new release is the HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator, a treatment that’s so innovative…there’s really nothing else I’ve seen like it! The HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator blends five forms of hyaluronic acid (a substance that binds to water and helps the body to retain moisture) to provide continuous hydration throughout the day. HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator uses a new technology found in the Vitis Flower Stem Cells, along with peptides to support skin’s ability to retain moisture. Apply HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator twice daily BEFORE your moisturizer. Definitely an exciting product!
For a luxury hydration option, TATCHA’s Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate is a great choice. This is a gel-serum concentrate, with Okinawa Red Algae, Squalane, along with seven botanicals really hydrates skin. Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate restores luminosity, improves skin tone and clarity. It melts into skin, and like all TATCHA products, is a pampering product. Great for all skin types, but I love this line for sensitive skins.
Another brand to put on your radar is TULA skincare, developed with Probiotic Technology. The Hydrating Day & Night Cream is a nice option for those looking to streamline their skincare regimen. This moisturizer has a nice consistency, absorbs well into the skin, and provides nourishing, anti-aging benefits. There are no parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, phthalates or propylene glycol in the formula, and TULA products are not tested on animals.
