The newly released Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Collection turns to nature for inspiration. Up until now, Tarte has focused on the Amazonian rainforest; with this collection, it’s the depths of the ocean. The collection focuses on makeup and skincare that contains the Rainforest of the Sea complex, a proprietary blend of algae and marine flower extracts for the ultimate in hydration and radiance.
I tried several products from the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Collection, including The Rainforest of the Sea™ Eyeshadow Palette, the Rainforest of the Sea™ Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette and various shades of the Drench Lip Splash Lipstick. Each of the products contains the Rainforest of the Sea complex, along with antioxidants and radiance boosters. The packaging is gorgeous and has a very upscale feel.
The Rainforest of the Sea™ Eyeshadow Palette ($34) is beautiful, with eight shadows, including Mermaid (gold), Seashell (pink), Wave (slate), Abyss (dark brown), Reef (copper), Starfish (bronze), Cove (tan) and Sand (ivory). The powders have a creamy feel that doesn’t crease once applied, great pigmentation and a glowy, shimmery finish. So pretty! I love that the shades are neutrals, but this palette feels updated and doesn’t look like every other neutral palette out there. I highly recommend this palette!
There are twelve shades of Rainforest of the Sea™ Drench Lip Splash Lipstick ($22). I tried four: Bikini (pink coral), Cabana Boy (mauve), Hey Sailor (bright pink) and Surfer Girl (cool fuchsia). a matte lipstick, but not drying at all; in fact, it feels like a balm due to the Rainforest of the Sea™ antioxidant complex and coconut oil, along with other hydrators. Pigmentation and color-payoff is good. I was able to wear several hours before reapplying. For a casual, neutral look, Cabana Boy is perfect.
Lastly, I tried the Rainforest of the Sea™ Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette ($42), which is reviewed in detail in my Favorite New Illuminator post. The palette contains a full size highlighter and illuminator that can be used for strobing or any other radiance-enhancing technique. In the middle, there is the Filtered Light setting powder, which brightens and corrects undereye darkness. This palette is among the prettiest highlighting palettes I’ve seen out.
There are many more products in the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Collection, available at tartecosmetics.com and at Sephora; have you picked up anything yet? I plan to get the Rainforest of the Sea™ Make a Splash Hydrating Skin Savers Set ($10) at Sephora, so that I can try some of the skin care in the collection; plus, the sizes are perfect for travel.
