The NARS Spring 2017 Wildfire Collection takes it’s inspiration from big sky country; earthy shades of burnt reds, big-sky blues, and wildflowers. There are plenty of neutrals, along with colorful accent shades to play with.
I always look forward to NARS’ take on Spring and seeing how the makeup translates from the runway to the ultimate seasonal collection. In last season’s Spring Summer 2017 show at New York Fashion Week, Mark Carrasquillo for NARS Cosmetics created a similar earthy, natural look, with the lips (wearing Kiss Me Stupid Lipstick) being the focal point. It’s a stunning “no makeup” makeup look.
The NARS Spring 2017 Wildfire Collection includes:
Velvet Shadow Sticks in Siros (Bronze), Usbek (vivid purple), Grand-Large (metallic sky blue) and Belle Ile (shimmering mandarin orange), $29.
Chiang Mai Duo Eyeshadow (shimmering sea blue and copper), $36
Thessalonique Duo Eyeshadow (iridescent seashell pink and iridescent violet smoke), $36
Bumpy Ride Blush (shimmering candy pink), $30
Kiss Me Stupid Lipstick (burnt sienna; satin finish), $28
Breaking Free Lipstick (neon coral; semi-matte finish), $28
Asphalt Jungle Lip Gloss (shimmering sangria), $26
Aragon Lip Gloss (red chestnut), $26
I previewed the Thessalonique Duo Eyeshadow, Bumpy Ride Blush and Asphalt Jungle Lip Gloss. Such beautiful colors for spring and forward! Although you can’t tell in the photos, the Thessalonique Duo Eyeshadows have an iridescent, duochrome quality to them. As you would expect from NARS, the eyeshadow is long-wearing and doesn’t crease (why it’s one of my favorite eyeshadows). I think this color combination is one of the prettiest I’ve seen; lovely for spring. I definitely want to pick up the Chiang Mai Duo Eyeshadow, which reads more summer to me.
I also tried Bumpy Ride Blush, which is described as “shimmering candy pink”. The shimmer is very subtle; when you look at it on, it takes on luminous quality. So pretty! When you hold it to the light you can see almost a pearlized finish. Pigmentation and wear is good with Bumpy Ride. In terms of the color, I see it as almost a pink-coral; either way, it’s a shade that many skin tones will be able to wear.
Asphalt Jungle Lip Gloss is a color unlike anything I have in my collection. It’s a shimmering deep rose shade that can be worn in any season. I adore NARS Lip Glosses because they’re long-wearing and not sticky. This shade is a refreshing change to matte lips.
