I’m always excited when NARS introduces a new makeup product, and when I first saw the NARS Banc De Sable Highlighter Palette, I was awestruck by how beautiful it is. Fair warning…this new trio of highlighters will be hard to resist. And if you’re a highlighter addict like I am, it will be impossible. Just sayin’.
The new Banc De Sable Highlighter Palette features three universally flattering highlighters for eyes and cheeks. In some respects, this palette reminds me of the Dual-Intensity range, because the formula can be used wet or dry. You can wear the shades alone or layer/combine for a custom glow. The colors also seem to channel last year’s Hot Sand Collection (review), which was stunning. This is where you can definitely envision using this palette on the eyes, in addition to cheeks.
The three Banc De Sable shades are gorgeous and will be able to be used on a variety of skin tones. The shades include Rivage (left, glistening pearl), Salé (middle, shimmering peach champagne) and Embruns (right, metallic rose gold). Yes, Yes, and YES, PLEASE. In terms of colors, I’d consider Rivage a cool tone, while Salé and Embruns are warm.
Since there are so many highlighters out now, I’d consider this palette similar in quality and finish to BECCA (which is my gold standard). In terms of “highlight payoff”, the Banc De Sable Highlighter isn’t a full-on strobing effect; it’s more subtle and that’s my personal preference. You can go bolder by using a wet brush, but even then, the effect doesn’t scream at you.
Overall, the NARS Banc De Sable Highlighter Palette ($49) is definitely worth a look. I love that there are three shades in a compact, which makes this an easy pick for travel. You can find the limited-edition NARS Banc De Sable Highlighter Palette exclusively at Sephora. Are you tempted?
