There’s no better time than summer to break out the shimmering body products to enhance your glow. Whether it’s fragrance, body oils or even a scrub, these are some of my favorite shimmer products for the body. But you have to be quick…these products sell out in a flash!
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Oil Spray is lightly scented and has a fine shimmer, so the effect is subtle. It’s very pretty on, and the Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche fragrance doesn’t overwhelm. There is a blend of oils, so skin is conditioned and soft. Although the packaging suggests it can be sprayed in hair, I’d only recommend a quick spritz so it doesn’t weigh hair down. My splurge pick is Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil. and if you love the gorgeous beachy Soleil Blanc fragrance like I do, (review) this is your pick. The shimmer is a pale champagne shade (compared to Bronze Goddess, which is a deeper gold) and is very fine, but still makes an impact.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil is an excellent pick for a golden honey glow. The Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil has a tropical scent…think white flowers like frangipani. The shimmer effect is subtle-to-medium, and is super pretty on arms and decollete. This dry oil absorbs fairly quickly, so I didn’t experience transferring. You can also mix a drop or two into your body lotion for a subtle shimmer.
Sol de Janeiro is one of my favorite body product brands, so I was excited to see the Ipanema Sunset and Copacabana Bronze Glow Oils. Ipanema Sunset is a lighter, champagne shade and has a new scent infused with notes of pomelo, wild fig, and Brazilian gardenia. Copacabana Bronze Glow Oil is the darker shade, and has the “Sol de Janeiro” classic fragrance to it…easily my favorite. I think Copacabana Bronze Glow is sexiest on legs, but you can use anywhere. The Glow Oils have a medium-to-almost-strobe level shimmer, and they do take a while to absorb or they will transfer. These oils can also be mixed into lotions, foundation or used as a face highlighter (I found the scent a bit too strong for that). Overall, great choice!
Urban Outfitters Sunscreen Shimmer Lotion is an exciting new sunscreen. It combines aloe vera, shea butter, coco butter, mango butter and vitamin E for a moisturizing feel, plus broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 protection) and is water resistant to 80 minutes. I was impressed with how pretty this sunscreen is on the skin; I plan to get a backup before it sells out!
NYL Organic Shimmer Scrub (link) is a blend of organic sugar and oils, and exfoliates while leaving just a hint of shimmery glow. In addition to softer skin, the shimmer effect is a nice bonus. The amount of shimmer will depend on your skin tone, but on my medium, slightly tanned skin, I was able to notice it. This scrub is vegan, organic, toxin-and cruelty-free, and I love using it on my legs before shaving.
I couldn’t talk about shimmering body products without mentioning Fenty Beauty’s Fairy Bomb Glittering Pom Pom. This is a glam product; the packaging gets an A+. When you do apply the Fairy Bomb powder, the rose shimmer dust leaves a very subtle effect, which surprised me, considering the Body Lava is basically an allover strobing product. If you’re looking for a chunkier, higher impact illuminator, I would recommend the Urban Decay NAKED Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Face and Body (review). For summer, I’d recommend the Lit shade (bronze).
